Interlake Connections: Embracing Independence

May 28 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Inclusion Selkirk has developed the group INTERLAKE CONNECTIONS and will be working with Red River North Counselling Therapy Services to coordinate the project. The project consists of monthly sessions in different areas of the Interlake, discussing topics identified by families and you, the members.

To reach the most families possible we have connected with the Family Advocacy Network, Inclusion Teulon, Community Bridges Gimli and Community Living Interlake.

Interlake Connections has coordinated with Family Advocacy Network to offer meetings in conjunction with one another. With information sessions from 6-8, Interlake connections will present information and lead discussions with topics identified by families. And following this session from 8-9, Family Advocacy Network will host their meeting.

These sessions/meetings will take place in different Interlake communities each month and access to respite supports will be available for people that register in advance.

This session will be held in Teulon at Teulon Rockwood Center. (more information on poster and event link)

These sessions are for families that have dependents of any age.  These are great opportunities to learn with and from each other as we navigate the many systems.  The purpose of this group is to connect families with one another to learn and grow together through shared experiences.

We look forward to connecting with many families through Interlake Connections and supporting families to build a network throughout the Interlake.

Respite Option:

We are providing an onsite respite option at events to try and reduce barriers to attending events.

The coffee house and Game Night poster attached provides some explanation on what the respite option will look like.

If you wish to register your son/daughter/sibling please note on the eventbrite registration so we  have enough snacks.

Who is FAN?

The Family Advocacy Network (FAN) of Manitoba is a network of parents, family members, and caregivers of people, both children and adults, with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Family Advocacy Network (FAN) provides opportunities for families to get together, to share experiences & resources, to be empowered, to advocate, and to have a united voice across the province.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Teulon!
